This website was created in partnership with Green Jersey Web Design.

Transport Heritage was commisioned by the Transport Trust and contains a vast database of historic transport related sites around the UK, containing history, tourist information and galleries on each entry, as well as other useful resources such as Constructor information and Transport types.

The site features an elegant, tableless template, custom-designed by Green Jersey.  We were comissioned to produce the template and the Joomla! implementation, including the customised database component and custom page layouts.

We used the popular SOBI2 directory listing component as a base for the main database, and added extensive modifications to the templates and functionality to create a unique, elegant and usable information portal.

The modifications include:

• Fully customised layouts
• Category-aware Google mapping with placemarkers for each location
• Custom-built Flash map to allow browsing by County (Flash produced by Green Jersey)
• Live weather feeds for each listing based on location
• Integrated galleries for each listing

The site uses beautiful photography from Mack and Me to further enhance the aesthetics.
